NION put on a protest action at the Westwood, Los Angeles Federal Building on Saturday the 8th of October, 2005

Images previously highlighted at Little Green Footballs - Not in Our Demonstration

It was billed as ”OCCUPY THE OCCUPIERS 2: Concert to Drive Out the BUSH REGIME!” giving the impression of a large-scale mass-movement event. See the original LGF highlight of the event.

I was in the region, so I swung by at the time of their slated kickoff. Here’s what I found:

This car was parked around the corner, on Veteran Ave. That’s a red curb there next to it, but hey, it’s ok, he put his flashers on.

The collection is a complete cliche, and now as I compose it, I note the ‘Veterans for Peace’ sticker at the lower left. The whole array looks like a very close match of interests to the creeps putting on the “Arlington West” display in Santa Monica.

This aerial banner was a curiousity. I had the impression it was a Bush Monkey-face image, but never got a close enough image after its initial near pass. Don’t know if it was related to NION’s effort this day, or if it was some whole other ‘LLLiberal outreach’ program here in L.A. - this pic is looking NNE from the NION protest site on teh Fed Bldg grounds, right over Westwood-proper, on the south boundary of the UCLA campus.

So you can see that the turnout was next to nil at their announced 1pm kickoff time.

Pathetic turnout, really. I looked for IMC or other similar post-facto celebrations of their event, but found no follow-up for this flop. Need to make a fresh search, maybe they were just slow.
